There is a book “THE MIRACLE MORNING” written by very well-known and prominent author “Hal Elrod” in which he has discussed six morning habits. By cultivating these six habits he has earned back his life which was almost over, being in coma for six days and broken 11 bones after a car accident.
Now “Hal Elrod” is a Keynote Speaker, Best Selling Author and Ultra Marathon Runner.
Let's see what are those 6 habits which author has learned from books and other successful personalities.
Silence- As soon as we leave bed in the morning, all of sudden, we start thinking; Am I late? Should I start working at sharp 8′o clock? I have to write article too. I hate editing. My friend is also about to come today, Oh no! This is not right way to start your morning. Morning should be started with a relax brain. Author suggests meditation, the key purpose is to mitigate the stress. If you don't want to meditate, you could simply offer prayer or try to hear the voices around by keeping your eyes closed.
Affirmations- The second habit is affirmations. Talking to yourself positively is very powerful. This is followed by most of the professional athletes, actors and some successful entrepreneurs. This can be done by writing visions of your life. You can write three points : 1. What are the changes you are willing to see in every part of your life? 2. Why do you want these changes? 3. To see it happening what are the commitments you could do? Just write it on a small note and read it daily in the morning for yourself.
Visualization- Affirmations and visualization are like twin brothers. They sound same but actually they are different. If Affirmations help you in keeping your long term goals in your mind then, visualization helps you in visualizing how your end goals look like? What should you do to achieve the affirmations which you have read by writing, you should visualize it. How you are gonna make it. Visualization is like baby steps which help you do the most important stuff prior to everything after the morning routine.
Exercise- The fourth one is exercise. You know, I know, everyone knows exercise is vital but most of us make excuse. It's too late now. I will definitely start from tomorrow morning, etc etc. To bring off yourself from such excuses try to wake up early.
Reading- Reading and writing is very useful for personal growth. Read atleast 10 pages daily. This way you will be able to read 3650 pages which is equal to 18 books. Wow! commitment to a small change has transformed you this much.
Scribing- The sixth habit is scribing or writing. Spend some minutes into writing your feelings or thoughts. You will always learn something new, this is also called morning pages.
The author writes it in two parts: 1. Lessons learnt 2. Commitment to improve more. It helps in two way as the author is very grateful for his achievements and gets impetus to improve more.
To do all this the first thing you have to do is to wake up early in the morning. These all routine should be followed before 8 am. If you put your alarm on the snooze you would never be able to follow these routines. Doing this you are also saying to yourself you can't face the day as it comes.
